Privacy Policy — Visual Web Scraper

Overview

Visual Web Scraper is a browser extension that helps users extract structured data from web pages. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect (very little) and how we handle it.

Data Collection

We do not collect, store, or transmit any personal data.

• We do not track your browsing history
• We do not collect analytics or usage data
• We do not use cookies or tracking pixels
• We do not send scraped data to external servers
• We do not have user accounts or registration

Data Storage

The extension stores your scraping configuration (column names and CSS selectors) locally in your browser using Chrome's chrome.storage.local API. This data:

• Never leaves your device
• Is not synced to any external service
• Is automatically deleted when you uninstall the extension
• Can be cleared at any time using the "Clear All" button in the extension popup

Exported Data

When you export scraped data as CSV or JSON, the file is saved directly to your local device via Chrome's download API. No data passes through our servers.

Permissions

The extension requests the following permissions:

• activeTab: To interact with the webpage you're currently viewing when you activate scraping
• storage: To save your scraping configuration locally between sessions
• downloads: To save exported CSV/JSON files to your computer

Premium License Validation

If you purchase and activate a premium license, the extension sends your license key to our validation server (thebluesoft.ca) to verify it. This is the only network request the extension makes. We store the license key and the email address associated with your purchase on our server. No browsing data, scraped data, or usage data is ever transmitted.

Third-Party Services

The only external service the extension communicates with is our license validation server (thebluesoft.ca) for premium license checks. Stripe processes payments on their platform — the extension itself does not interact with Stripe directly.

If we update this privacy policy, we will post the changes here and update the "Last updated" date.
